I had the honor of photographing an adorable newborn last week. I did the portrait session in the clients home using only the available light from a table lamp next to the bed. Remember Light is Light. I used the 50mm 1.2 lense at about 1.8. That lense is incredible. Using 1.8 minimized room clutter.

Here are some of the images I shot yesterday for my newest clients Ryan and Jessica. All of them were done in and around my studio. All of them were lit with natural light and I used the 70-200mm lense at @2.8 as well as the 24mm lense

Use Stress for Success

It is funny how things turn out. I moved into my new studio space, started on an educational tour in Europe, started working on the most exciting new project with three partners (If I told you about it I'd have to kill you) and the craziest thing happened. Each time I was in the pits of craziness, I would have a photo shoot to do. There is something about stress and art. The more stressed out I get, the more creative I become. Here is a photo shot I did yesterday. I feel it is one of my better ones. All of the images were done in and around my studio.

Nudes

The above image was shot by myself on Sunday in my studio. I have very sheer fabric hanging from my windows, and the wind was blowing the curtains around the room. I was photographing this gorgeous woman and decided to capture the wind around the subject.

I have been inspired by the many artist in my building, so much so that I am going to start taking a nude sketching class tonight. I really want to branch out and push myself a bit artisticly. I want to start creating images that are more than just literal photos. So step one.. take a drawing class. Step two, incorporate it into my photography..Hey, it keeps me out of trouble..

Cantrell Portrait Design, Open Studio Weekend

Wow! What a terrific weekend. We participated in open studio weekend for our art community this past weekend. What a terrific program. We had lots of visitors, some from the photo community, many from the surrounding areas. Yesterday we did portraits for anyone coming into the studio and as a result, we've made some new friends. I will post later today some of the terrific people we photographed, not to mention the fabulous dogs.

One of the artist's I met has invited me to participate in a drawing class on Tuesday evening. I am planning to attend. What a great way to expand my creativity by working in another media.
